Libraries are special places and perfect settings for intrigue. Personally, I enjoyed the ending and was not disappointed in any way. Well done.
S.LucasAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-155197540326010032.post-47460483841644119772016-10-09T19:50:33.828+01:002016-10-09T19:50:33.828+01:00I'm surprised that books with such titles are ...I'm surprised that books with such titles are even obtainable from a library in a town with a population of under 5K. This is just the kind of story I love to read; academic post modernism, with a nod to MR James. I too loved the unlikely nonchalant repartee with Abigail the avocado-eating artist, and the library assistantspeak. My favourite passages are the visit to the 'hell ranch' and the desperate scramble back along the fence. Then disappointment set in, how could they both be so naive to believe that salvation lay in Halva? The ending was no surprise - not that an ending always should be a surprise, but what made me feel let down was that it was going the only way it could. It leaves the reader with no further possibility, no ambiguity. It's still a great read and beautifully phrased.
Sorry my comment comes a little late.
B r o o k e
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17142492723192523556noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-155197540326010032.post-60416955616899010912016-10-08T08:41:13.125+01:002016-10-08T08:41:13.125+01:00Love it! I particularly love the idea of a moving maze, the way the relationship between husband and wife is portrayed so naturally, how annoying the librarian is (talking to her screen) and the beautiful quote about fear rising, already picked out by the editor.

Bravo!
