However, I thought this was a great premise well executed. The casual violence and the portrayal of boredom (without boring the reader) was very well done.Mandi Lockleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08583430448640478127noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-155197540326010032.post-43748759761051551192015-06-17T02:31:44.307+01:002015-06-17T02:31:44.307+01:00One wonders if the villains of the world should be...One wonders if the villains of the world should be left dead. Hitler was an ugly bum who catered to the lowest instincts of society. Solution - when all else fails, blame the Jews. Of course the WWI reparations were onerous, but that is not a justification for mass murder. It is difficult to believe that anyone followed him, but then many Americans backed Johnson's, Nixon's and Bush's atrocities. One infers that we never learn.

This is off-topic and an inappropriate rant.Doughttps://sites.google.com/site/aberrantword/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-155197540326010032.post-63051755391286544302015-06-15T17:04:25.219+01:002015-06-15T17:04:25.219+01:00Very interesting, especially with that new book ou...Very interesting, especially with that new book out now – "Look Who's Back" – about Hitler waking up in 2011. Alternate histories always provide a chance to look back and consider things in a different light. But the tense changing was distracting, and the story would have held together better if it had stayed in one character's point of view. Overall, though, the idea carried me though, and I was curious to see how it would play out. Would he have become bored? You certainly capture his lack of humanity and I agree that it's unlikely he would have become more empathetic. A chilling end to your story .... poor Dietrich!
BerylAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-155197540326010032.post-58620225091152417832015-06-14T10:56:20.780+01:002015-06-14T10:56:20.780+01:00An aging Hitler is an interesting premise. Personally I don't think that with the dimensions of his "cleansing" and transformation plans he would ever got to the stage when all the "work" has been done, when he had lots of spare time for looking into a mirror and crying over his old age, but never mind. There were a couple of places in the writing that made me stumble: when the tense jumped from past to present tense in the first paragraph; also, the "feel feelings" sentence. I liked that you make Hitler spending his time in painting -- a nice detail, back to his old passion. He was also a vegetarian, by the way, especially in his later years. By the time your story takes place, he could have imposed vegetarian law on the whole world.:)Irena Pasvinterhttps://sites.google.com/site/ipscribblings/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-155197540326010032.post-61928206464550178712015-06-14T09:31:46.673+01:002015-06-14T09:31:46.673+01:00A chilling story whose icy tentacles send shocks t...A chilling story whose icy tentacles send shocks through the reader's received knowledge about the world, This leaves feelings of disorientation, then yet more scarily recognition of core vanities that distort behaviour and judgement amongst us all. We like to see evil as 'other' but perhaps we are not as beyond reproach as we would like to think. A brave telling of a well drawn but challenging story, thank you,
CeinwenAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
