It has the breadth of an epic novel compressed in scenes, which I found fascinating. I too think it's a work that can stand on its own or be expanded and explored.AJGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07718249742620982566noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-155197540326010032.post-59016636745179321602016-01-12T01:52:17.141+00:002016-01-12T01:52:17.141+00:00Thanks, Hillary. There were also some nice details. It's a wonderful piece of writing just as it is. And you also have the option to develop it further if you wish. Well done!
S.LucasAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-155197540326010032.post-31932757973516509082016-01-08T16:27:37.825+00:002016-01-08T16:27:37.825+00:00I particularly liked the early part of the story a...I particularly liked the early part of the story and your sensitivity to historic detail and great characterisations. The later sections were well written and absorbing but I felt that they needed more space and exploration - they read a little as if they represented the outline of a structure for a novel - so much time elapsed in a short space. This story feels as if it has great potential to be expanded, and I could imagine the result being very fine indeed. Have you read Betty Smith's novels, set in Brooklyn? they are set later than your story but they have some features in common, I think? Many thanks,
CeinwenAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
