Here's the first chapter, which takes place more than a year later. https://therumpus.net/2016/10/rumpus-original-fiction-april-1968/<br />Paul Justisonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08874482538433469554noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-155197540326010032.post-21974947024867707392021-05-25T13:10:35.590+01:002021-05-25T13:10:35.590+01:00Compulsively Readable is how I'd describe this...Compulsively Readable is how I'd describe this. You have a great command of narrative style. It's clearly 1960s era, but perhaps a little more of the 'Beat' language common with the counterculture of the time would be appropriate I felt, and yet the slow blossoming of understanding and then love between Mark and Lauren had a strong sense of the youthful longing and it kept me reading. Girls tend to be a little more enigmatic about their pasts than Lauren in my experience, but it still rang true. It did have an authentic sense of the real vulnerability and hoping-for-a-better-future of two young people who have to part. I hope you'll write a novel in this vein. Writing in crisp, elegant prose, Paul Justison takes us on an emotionally charged ride through transformational times. I'd call it Tucson 1996. The bit about the grandfather at the end introduces something new, so it's a bit confusing, but this could be an excerpt from a novel.Harrison Kimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06747310376412907313noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-155197540326010032.post-71124220746066660962021-03-19T15:25:06.010+00:002021-03-19T15:25:06.010+00:00This isca very wellmdone piece.
