Very thoughtful. (It had a bit of a Kurt Vonnegut/Douglas Adams feel to me. And I love both those guys. But with a definite original twist.Julie Carpenterhttp://www.sacredchickens.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-155197540326010032.post-90638692474286841572016-10-29T22:41:56.957+01:002016-10-29T22:41:56.957+01:00This is a really interesting and unusual piece of ...This is a really interesting and unusual piece of writing. It successfully manages to be funny, imaginative, nerdy and fantastic all at the same time. Thoughtfully written and well structured.
S.LucasAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-155197540326010032.post-65491062331551187622016-10-29T22:22:22.453+01:002016-10-29T22:22:22.453+01:00A really good, engaging read. I was fascinated by the way the ancestors, being brought into the modern world, were reduced to cute little muppets, entertaining and irritating by turn. All of life, all of history, became a rather vacuous bubble, "a series of temporary visitations to be enjoyed while it lasted but not necessarily mourned upon its end." A Benign New World. And possibly the idealised endpoint of the modern welfare state?Darius Bottnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-155197540326010032.post-37838554796830044332016-10-29T11:05:22.121+01:002016-10-29T11:05:22.121+01:00There are many things I like about this piece. With CS Lewis its the back of a wardrobe, here its the airing cupboard and the main protagonists aren't going out through it, other folk are coming in that way.
I enjoyed the exploration of the figures of speech of 'relativity', generational, exponential growth, and the play on 'worship' and 'warship'. There are pithily amusing phrases of wisdom such as '...this is a genuine miracle and worth the cost of a little inconvenience.'
As a work of fiction I sometimes struggled with it. It has the feel of an article from a learned professional scientific or artistic journal based on the premise of one concept being tested and taken through all its various permutations. Intelligent read though...Thanks!
B r o o k e Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17142492723192523556noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-155197540326010032.post-48282428048865798272016-10-28T19:41:16.660+01:002016-10-28T19:41:16.660+01:00The crazy continuum that is life.. ludicrous,limin...The crazy continuum that is life.. ludicrous, liminal spaces - an intelligent exploration well told - thank you,
Ceinwen Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11145727006327466838noreply@blogger.com
