It needs the length to get the emotions working in the reader...Liked the way the characters were shown; monosyllabic Samurai, pain-in-the-ass Pigtails, soulful turtle, and the unnamed creature under the bed. I was haunted by the repetitive chiming chorus of 'friends who will come to your wedding and funeral.'
