I felt like I was growing up in Prague with them -playing in the Autumn leaves or decorating the Christmas tree. The sadness of loss is felt but not dwelt on & the ending is hauntingly perfect.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-155197540326010032.post-881361015758382332019-06-15T08:04:55.383+01:002019-06-15T08:04:55.383+01:00It is so beautifully naive, pure and honest that I...It is so beautifully naive, pure and honest that I got a strong flashback to my childhood. Really rare mix of simplicity, naivety and laconism that is barely present in today’s literature, as I’m concerned.

You’re very good at mixing tiny bits of poetic romantic imagery and constructing coherent and deep emotional experience for the reader with it, I love it. Also you look right in the essence of things and only show us what’s important rather than piling up every detail.

One very rare and crucial (imo) character of this story is that as you acknowledge that the darkness always gathers around the light, you kind of accept is as it is and just let it be. Pristine, sincere and free. I really connected to this.

I have a feeling that we all will hear about you around the World in the near future. The opening section about Anna's childhood is a great expression of this.

A few hours after reading this, I found myself sitting at home thinking about the dream sequence. Even when cocooned by warmth and affection, there is still the sense that things will come to an end. Anna conveys no sense of sadness or unease about this fact, only acceptance. It is a reality that colours both the dream and the broader narrative of Annas life.

Congratulations on a well written, thought provoking story. Hope to read more published work from you in the future.

JR

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-155197540326010032.post-74598018038527152662019-06-11T02:49:06.107+01:002019-06-11T02:49:06.107+01:00Well written, the narrative felt surreal and dream...Well written, the narrative felt surreal and dreamlike. All whilst eliciting bouts of melancholia within the reader.

Anna's reminiscence of the past coupled with the description of autumn certainly brought me back to the gold and scarlet of autumn days, a mini time-travel of sort.

The foreshadowing of deaths in the dream was alluring yet haunting,
encapsulating the idea that darkness still lurks amidst beauty.

Well done, Cameron!Morris Mossnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-155197540326010032.post-51003576332893426532019-06-09T02:25:11.354+01:002019-06-09T02:25:11.354+01:00Anna got to a point where she accepted that what h...Anna got to a point where she accepted that what happened happened. Reading this short, sad, yet totally satisfying story is almost like listening to the narrator revealing her story to us orally. Try reading it aloud and you'll understand what I mean. I also liked how the different characters are revealed to us in layers as the story itself builds, twists, and winds itself to its almost poetic end. All this and a really easy read besides.
